Hi, I'm Andreea
I am experienced in assisting organisations in connection with privacy, AI and digital compliance issues - whether as an outside counsel, consultant or data protection officer. I also mentor privacy professionals into developing and improving their knowledge and their career, and offer complex training programs.
My Story
I started my professional journey with a college degree in informatics, followed by a law degree from the University of Bucharest in 2006 which included a stint at the Erasmus University in The Netherlands. Most of my career has been spent at leading law firms in Bucharest, where I have advised on data protection matters since the early stages of cloud computing emergence.
In 2016, I founded a boutique law firm specializing in privacy and digital laws, quickly becoming a success especially as the GDPR was rolling out. I have trained hundreds of DPOs and developed privacy compliance programs for major corporations across various industries (telecom, e-commerce, real estate, FMCG, etc).
I switched to leading in-house roles in 2019 in Sweden - working for Volvo Cars and then Boeing, seeing the data protection compliance world both as a controller and as a processor in some very challenging global projects.
In 2024 I started PrivacyCraft and moved back into consulting but with a focus on sharing my knowledge about the real-life challenges of privacy program management in a global context that doesn’t end where GDPR stops to apply. I not only train privacy professionals but I also support them through my mentorship programs.
I am also a visiting fellow at Maastricht University’s European Center for Privacy and Cybersecurity, and I publish The AI & Privacy Explorer, a weekly newsletter covering news and insights into developments in privacy, digital and AI.
I hold several accolades related to my data protection expertise – I am certified as CIPP/E and CIPM by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, who also recognized me with the distinction of Fellow of Information Privacy in 2023. I am also a certified DPO by the Maastricht University.
